Blue Scarves & Letter Shapes

Lately, I've been posting about Spring trends and today won't be the exception. I had a great weekend, the weather was nice and warm for February. I did a little trend browsing and found a lot of blue in fashion fabrics like the beautiful blue tones used in the flower pattern scarves below. The blue tones are in the soft pastel color range, perfect for Spring!

Pretty Spring scarves at +LOFT - you can shop them HERE.

I also found these cool letter shapes at +Anthropologie that I had to share. I have considered getting a few of these but can't figure out how to fit them with my decor. If you've been following the blog, you probably know my love for fonts, and everything related to letter forms so I think that I'll eventually figure something out and find a place for them, even if it's in a little corner of the apartment. Hah!

So, how was your weekend? Did you find something cool and trendy? I'd love to hear from you in the comments.

Cheers!

The Choker Necklace Trend

The choker necklace trend goes back to the 90's and it's now on trend. I remember having a flexible plastic one with beads that I loooved and trashed not too long ago (now I want it back, of course.)

These make us look a bit more elegant, specially the ones in metallic tones. Here are some stylish picks in gold and one with mint that is also trendy for Spring.

Peplum Is Staying

Yes, you read it right. The peplum trend has been here for a few years and I am sure it's not going anywhere. I am in love with the trend because it's feminine; a simple peplum top makes me feel girlie and cute! I can't get enough of this style so here are a few choices from my wish-list.

What are your thoughts on the peplum trend? Do you love it or not really into it? Tell me your favorite in a comment.

On Trend: Jeweled Sweaters

We all like glittery and sparkly things whether it's on our nails or, in this case, tops. The chilly weather won't keep us from wearing sparkly things because this trend is catching fire. Moving from silky tops to sweaters so that we can stay warm and pretty. What is your thought on the trend? Please share your favorite in a comment.

Tiptoe: The Metallic Cap Shoe Trend

The cap shoe trend has been going on for a while but lately it's been all about metallic caps. One of my first posts about flats (here) included a very stylish Enzo Angiolini pair with metal details in the front and back of the shoe. Sorry, it's no longer available but no worries because today's post has some very trendy pairs too.

My favorite? The red flat by +H&M for just $30!!! Tell me which is your favorite pair in a blog comment. Cheers!

Fall Trend: Plaid Shirts

Fall is getting closer, and closer. This morning the weather in NYC was perfect to wear long sleeves or a thin jacket. Take a look at these plaid shirts that might inspire your Fall (and what's left of summer) wardrobe shopping.

My favorite is the +EXPRESS top. The +Madewell shirt is longer than a regular shirt, perfect to wear during the weekends with leggings and brown leather boots. What do you think? Share your favorite in a comment.

The Scallop Trend!

The scallop trend has been going on for a while...a couple years, maybe? I remember walking in to a +J.Crew store and falling in love with some scalloped shorts that scared me off with the price tag but that didn't keep me from dreaming.

The trend is girly, and cute, so to celebrate (I enjoy celebrations!) here are some scalloped pieces that I would love adding to my wardrobe. Which one is your favorite? Tell me in a comment below.

loft skorts!

I'm an avid LOFT shopper. First of all I love their jeans because they fit well and last forever. Secondly, they have great quality trendy items at affordable prices. I'm always on the lookout for those 40% off that make my wallet and husband happy. Hah!

Today's post is all about their Skorts. I first noticed them at a +LOFT store near my job. I was attracted  by the pretty floral fabric (top left image) but immediately backed up when noticed that it was not a short or skirt. Yeah, you are probably wondering what in the world is a skort! Let me explain. The Skort is basically a short pant and skirt in one. They were designed to give women protection and freedom in activities such as sports and gardening.

Loft is bringing back the skorts to give us freedom in everyday style. They have been getting my attention because they are flirty, fun, and making everyone wonder if you are wearing a short or a skirt.

Check out the LOFT skorts below. I'd love to hear from you. Do you currently own skorts? Would you wear these below? Let me know your thoughts in a comment.

the dining bench

For the past few years I've attended the ICFF Show and noticed a trend in dining rooms. A common feature in patio furniture is now being brought inside homes by placing benches in dining tables. These are usually arranged on one side but in the images below, you'll see some benches replacing all chairs.

I selected four pieces from IkeaPottery BarnWest Elm, and All Modern that I really like. Take a look let me know which is your favorite in a comment below. Enjoy!

lavender love for the body and home...

Happy April 1st! The months are flying by and I am getting happier each day because the weather is getting warmer in NYC and the flowers and trees will start blooming any minute.

I've been obsessed with flowers all Winter. First I got a bunch of Gerberas, then a Pascua plant that my husband got me in December (still red and bold.) My latest one is a Lavender plant I got at Trader Joe's. I like this one because it transmits peace and harmony plus the tiny purple flower strands are delicate and romantic.

I love lavender because it's an aromatic plant. Everyday products are infused with lavender oils and the best part is that with this plant at home I don't miss burning candles and oils because it smells so good around her.

To start April with a new color (Bye, bye emerald.) I decided to put together a list of lavender products that I already have at home and love.
  1. GapBody perfume in Lavender Tea. I got this one at a Gap store on sale more than three years ago and I rarely used it until a few months ago. I enjoy this scent because it is light for everyday use. (Must say, I also like the simple branding on the package and bottles.)
  2. L'occitane's lavender hand cream. This one is really good, great reviews all over. I loved it because it kept my hands soft and hydrated for a while plus I got it for free with a purchase. A better deal for a lavender cream/lotion is Trader Joe's Spa Lavender Hand & Body lotion.  This one is perfect to have at your desk.
  3. Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Fabric Softener in Lavender. I like this product because it's delicate on fabrics and claims to be gentle to planet earth.
  4. Another natural home care product that I've had for a long time is the J.R WATKINS window cleaner in Lavender scent. This one uses natural lavender and rosemary oil and as all the other products above has a soothing scent.
There is one more product that I didn't include in my visual board below but that my mom used for years in the Dominican Republic. The Mistolin all purpose cleaner in lavender. I currently use this product at home to clean my non-wood floors in the kitchen and bathroom. This one really gives any place a clean lavender scent. It smells like home to me. :)

The April color of the month at CheersCristalia.com is lavender. Each week I'll be creating a new post all in Lavender.

Cheers!

the monogram shop

Have you noticed how people love to leave their mark on things and places? Kids write their
names everywhere, parents write their kids names on all their school materials and lately I've been
noticing initials and name placed on clothing, tech cases, home decor and many more things.

Inspired by all the labeling, I decided to put together a list of stores that have a MONOGRAM section
at their shops and websites. Let me know your thoughts on the monogram trend in the comments below.
Am I missing a shop from my list? Do you like the trend or is it too 'grandma style'?

Scroll down for links to online stores.

charming bracelet tutorial & giveaway!

Yay! The weekend is finally here! Yesterday, Cheers Cristalia celebrated one month of being public by
creating fun accessories. Today, I hope you are as excited as I am because I am sharing a tutorial
with you and giving away some really fun stuff to a lucky winner!!!

What I love the most about this tutorial is that it's affordable, looks really chic and you can find all the
materials at an arts and crafts shop.

I hope this inspires you to make your own fancy bracelets for yourself and your friends!
Read my step-by-step guide on how to create this charming bracelet and at the end you'll find the giveaway details.

You'll need:
  * Charm
  * Chinese knotting cord - 1 yard
  * Chain - 14 hoops (7 for each side)
  * Spacer Beads - 2 pieces
  * Scissors
  * Fabric glue

Start by cutting the Chinese Knotting yard in half.
Make a knot in the charm by folding the cord in half and inserting the ends through the
charm. Repeat this step with the other half of the cord.

Count 7 hoops on the chain and use it to weave the cord.

Always insert each side of the cord in theopposite direction. Tie a knot and repeat this step on the
other end of the other side.

Take a cord end from each side and insert it through the spacer bead. Follow this step with the
leftover cords bead.

Finally, tie knots on the four ends and cut using a scissor. To hold the knot in place, apply a small
amount of fabric glue to each end.

Fancy, huh!  =)

vacation backpack!

Hello there! I'm going on vacation in a few months and I have already started to plan what to pack. I'm debating about the perfect bag to carry around all day. I will be exploring an exotic island with beaches, mountains and volcanoes. While I search for this perfect bag, I've realized that I haven't used a backpack in years. A backpack would be perfect for my trip. Here are some options that will hopefully inspire you while I decide which one to get. They're all my faves!

Which is your top pick? Do you have an awesome suggestions? Post is in a comment below.

vintage lighting type

If you love type, lights, or vintage decor, come take a look at Vintage Marquee Lights. The company was created by a couple who got inspired by the lights of Broadway & Vegas. The shapes are designed out of old rustic metal which gives it the vintage feel.

As they suggest, these typographic pieces are great decor for any place: "... restaurants, bars, interior decor, retail displays, and even weddings!"

I'd love to see that ampersand on a foyer. Which piece(s) would you love to get???

Mix, Match, Print, Pattern!

If you are somewhat like me, a bit conservative with your outfits, you'll never leave your home with two pieces that don't seem to match. I usually like to keep it simple and would only have one piece stand out with a pattern or bright color.

This new pattern trend might have you rethink your outfits and give them a fun and careless twist. It's definitely about to convince me to mix and match my polka dot and stripe tops with floral pants!

My selection below is prove that the trend is here for good: Lauren Conrad's Kohl's collection is as usual, amazingly sweet with the pastel color palette but surely following the pattern trend with the stripe top and floral shorts. The indie fashion brand, Norwegian Wood is popping with great color in these pattern combination.

Finally, a fresh out of the oven, Target's collaboration with Prabal Gurung. The mix of lace and pattern are beautiful and making me want all the pieces.

What are your thoughts on this new trend? Will you admire it or own it?
