Sweet Pineapple

Did you get a chance to read my "Best of Oahu, HI" post? I picked one favorite thing for each category and failed to mention our visit to the Dole plantation where I had a super sweet (and delicious) pineapple ice cream.

The Dole plantation was one of the places I was really looking forward to visit while in Hawaii. Even though we didn't do the maze (the largest maze in the world) because it was really hot that day, I really enjoyed watching their demonstration on how to cut a pineapple and serve it right on the shell.

Excited by the summer weather that we already have in NYC, I picked some pineapple inspired items that will keep you looking gorgeous and smelling delicious at the beach, or in the city!

The roof is on fire!

Don't panic. The roof isn't really on fire, it's just trending to have an awesome patio in your rooftop. My views from a 13th floor in Manhattan's Flatiron district guides me to see the fabulous life of the rich New Yorkers.

Take a look at these rooftops I found on the web and tell me if you still need a home with a backyard. Do you have an awesome rooftop? Share your place with us on instagram by using #CheersRoof and tagging @CheersCristalia in your post.

Tea please!

Remember my tea talk post a few weeks ago? I am back with more tea talk today. Let me start with a Vanilla Chai Tea latte I had last week from Cafe One. It was delicious, creamy, and could easily trick a faithful coffee fan into replacing the daily cup o' joe with chai tea. It definitely moved me one step closer to the tea team. Another great tea drink I had last week was a MojiTea from +Argo Tea. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the drink but the peppermint tea, sparkling water, and cane sugar mix was super refreshing.

Finally, what truly inspired this post was Alison Appleton's work that I spotted at the ICFF show. The british ceramic design studio stand got my attention because of it's authentic ceramic tea pots and, as described on their site, the designs are an expression of beauty, creativity and enjoyment of life.

My favorite collection is the Emperor's Bird but the Darcy and Camellia are wonderful too!
Do you own a tea pot? What do you think of Alison Appleton's tea pots? Share your thoughts in a comment below.

Mellow yellow! #nailfail

Happy Memorial day weekend! I hope you are all having some time off to relax, meditate and pamper yourself. Remember my weekly color of the month posts? I have not forgotten (I swear) just been really busy (and tired) but this week I bring you double yellow to make it up.

Today's yellow post is about my new Mellow Yellow nail polish from Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear line. This color reminds me of sunny summer days and sweet pineapple ice-cream. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond looking for a yellow tone but didn't want a bright neon and decided to go with this bright-but-not-so-bright color.

I paired up the yellow color with something that would tone it down a bit and first used Essie's "Good as Gold" nail polish on the left ring finger. The technique here was pretending to paint the nail but just paint half of it. This seemed fine but I wanted to try something different.

On the second try I used "White On" a white nail polish also from Sally Hansen - total nail fail.

I've been thinking, and maybe it wasn't my technique that failed, it might have been Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear brush. Unlike most of the nail polish I own, it has a long stick and brush that I think makes the art of nail painting a little messy.

What's your thought on the nail polish brush? What's your favorite nail polish brand? Post your thoughts below.

Enjoy my messy nails and keep having a lovely weekend. Cheers!

Tattly All Over!!

Have you heard about Tattly??? If you followed me on Instagram prior to launching CheersCristalia.com, you probably know about this super awesome tattoo brand. It was born when Tina Roth Eisenberg got tired of putting poorly designed temporary tattoos on her daughter's arm and decided to start a cute temporary tattoo line designed by professional artists. They are non-toxic and safe for kids (and adults) of all ages.

My First Tattly order shared on +Instagram:
The order came with extra goodies.
My first Tattly - Pixel-Perfect.
Live in New York City? Lucky us! They've partnered with cool stores and places to bring us the Tattly Randomizer, a vending machine dispensing Tattly's for just 25¢. Sweet!

Tell me about your tattoos! Real ones? Have you removed any? Do you have any Tattly's? Share your brilliant thoughts with me below. Cheers!

Best of Oahu, HI

Aloha! This time not from Hawai'i but from my apartment's living room in New York. Depressing? VERY...I miss Hawaii. What is it about vacation, or maybe coming back to work, that makes us feel sooo miserable? I honestly don't know but, third day in the office and I'm feeling sick.

Alright, enough with the complaining. I've been telling myself all day to stop whining and I am doing just that. Let's cheer up with some highlights of my lovely travel to a Hawaiian island.

Oahu is a fantastic place. The rest of the Hawaiian islands are still on my list of places to visit but for now I am checking off Oahu from the list, and recommending my favorite things from that amazing little island.

The Guide: Discover, Honolulu, Waikiki, & Oahu from +Lonely Planet

This is the first travel guide I've bought and it was perfect.
It's organized by sections (Honolulu, Waikiki, North Shore, Windward Corast, etc.)
which made it really easy to plan every day.

Best Beach: Waimanalo Beach Park.

Waimanalo Beach Park, Oahu
Beautiful clear water and perfect sand. We visited Waimanalo on a rainy day and it still turned out to be my favorite.

Best Hike: Koko Head.

Aloha from the top of Koko Head! You will get the best workout from hiking to the top of
this inactive volcano crater. At one point I thought about crawling my way to the top - that's how good it was.

Best Food: Shrimp Scampi from Giovanni's Shrimp Truck.

I don't have words to describe how good this Shrimp Scampi tasted. Giovanni's truck is located on the North Shore of Oahu. Surrounded by many more food trucks all selling delicious seafood but Giovanni's Shrimp was the best shrimp I've ever had...ever.  The shrimp is cooked and served with the shell - I believe that's one of the tricks of such deliciousness but a real hassle when hungry.

Best Dessert: Haupia (coconut) Malasada from Leonard's Bakery

Ooh, yum! This portuguese-style doughnut was the perfect dessert.  Obsessed with coconut I had to order the haupia filling but I've heard the chocolate one is delicious too.

Best Entertainment: Hula Show in Kuhio Beach.

Great free Hula show in Waikiki. One of my favorite Hawaiian things is the Hula dance because it's composed of  harmonious wave-like movements. Very peaceful.

Have you been to a Hawaiian Island? Share your favorite travel foods, beaches, and hikes in a comment below. Mahalao (thank you) & cheers to more vacations!

The hubby & I at Lanikai Beach (North Shore) . My favorite, perfect fit bikini from +Ann Taylor find it here.

tea talk!

Forget about coffee, nowadays tea shops are popping up all over the city. From the +Starbucks like, +Argo Tea Cafes to +DAVIDs Tea Shops.

These are the go-to spots for tea lovers and those of us who want to experiment with new drinks.

David's Tea got my attention because of it's branding. Graphics are modern using use minty green and white colors and a bold sans serif font. The shop carries around 150 types of teas from around the world including the largest collection of organic teas in North America.

Argo Tea shops are similar to Starbucks stores - very lounge like with comfortable chairs that invites us to read a book while sipping on delicious tea. They also have tables that make it a great get together spot for a quick meeting.

I won't tell you I have a favorite tea shop because I don't but I definitely do love tea and hope to one day replace my morning cup o' joe with a healthy cup of tea. For now, I will continue to enjoy both drinks.

Tell me about your daily drink love in a comment below. Are you a tea lover? If so, where do you go to buy your teas and how do you like it? Hot, cold, with milk? Tea cheers from me to you!

yellow & more window shopping

Remember my lavender post from ABC Carpet and home? Well, it inspired me to do some window shopping at other stores so expect to see more of these going forward.

For this week's yellow post I'm showing you some pictures I took at Joe Fresh, Gap and Madewell. Some trendy, inspirational, cute, and Hawaii inspired items.

The first images inspired by color of the month. T-shirt and shorts from Joe Fresh and the neon yellow and khaki bag from Gap. In the not so yellow section you'll find some cute pieces that I'd love to have - all from Gap except for the "Inspiration comes from working" folder from +Madewell.

My personal favorites from these items are the doggie sweater and the elephant neon pink scarf from Gap. What's your favorite item below? Share it in a comment. Happy hump day!

Yellow: Color of the month!

To introduce the month with some color inspiration, I am starting with a yellow post. Yellow  is beautifully defined as a color that shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. The color carries the promise of a positive future and infuses optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts.

After reading the yellow definition from Sensationalcolor.com I almost want to color everything around me yellow and wear it everyday. Well... maybe not, that wouldn't be very creative of me - but the description truly makes me want to add a some yellow to every part of my life.

I took a few shots of a yellow wall in my living room. It's been yellow for 4 years - maybe longer - and I've been wanting to change it but now, I'm not so sure about removing the happy color.

The yellow wall in my living room.

Beautiful, isn't it? Post your happy yellow thoughts in the comments below.

Love and Cheers!
