Tangerine Tango

Tangerine is color of the month at CheersCristalia.com and although I mentioned in my first tangerine post (here) that I didn't like +Pantone 's Tangerine Tango I thought it deserved it's own post because the color did make it to color of the year in 2012.

The Executive Director at Pantone's Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, described the color as sophisticated, dramatic and seductive. I must say that Tango as a dance form is all of those exciting words but I'm not so sure about tangerine. Tangerine is just delicious to me. ;)

Here are some Tangerine Tango items from Pantone's Shop that might inspire you. Note that they all come in other colors. Cheers!

Thick heels: On Trend with the Etta Pump!

I've been noticing the thick heel trend and my favorite so far is the Etta pump by J.Crew - of course. This pump is priced from $238 to $375 and they are handmade in Italy with fine, high quality materials.

It's on my to-do list to stop by one of their shops to feel how comfortable they are but from how they look, I already love them. They are perfect for work and some styles are on trend like the studded heel in number 1. Cute! ;)

I will try to figure out which one I want, while I save for a pair and cross my fingers that they go on sale soon. Tell me your favorite in a comment. Cheers! 1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4 :: 5

Someone is Getting Old and Grumpy...Happy 27th Birthday to me!

I decided to visit the allergist a few weeks ago and during my first visit I discovered that my body has an allergic reaction to dust mites, yeast and mold. Last week, during my second visit and a deep allergy and breathing test, I was told that I am allergic to cats and dogs. After two weeks of "I need to avoid eating this and that" I am already sick of it because on top of having to watch what I eat (no beer, wine, cheese, bread, sweets...the list goes on.), I get to swallow a daily pill for the allergies.

So yes, today is my birthday and I am getting old and grumpy. I could have a piece of a coconut layer cake, like the one I made a while back, but I'll try not to. Cheers to a healthier me and and more birthdays and awesome years like this past one. Here is a recap of many great things I captured on Instagram during my 26th year on planet Earth.

Celebrate your birthday every day!
Try to live by that Holstee poster in my living room.
Change is good.
First time I voted! For Obama - of course!

Started CheersCristalia.com, designed jewelry and gave it away.
Got awesome temporary tattoos.
Traveled to new places: Hawaii & San Francisco.

Learned to dance ballet. My niece Zayra was born.
Attended a professional tennis game for the first time.
Got brave and decided to draw and share my art.

Baked pumpkin pie & coconut layer cake.
Sew a pillow for my living room.
Be thankful for everything, every day & everyone in your life.

I am so glad I shared these on Instagram because I get to look back and see that I had a very happy year even when I wasn't feeling like it as I started to write this post. I can now say I celebrated my birthday all year by doing things that made me happy.

Beauty time with Seventh Generation Skin Serum!

It's beauty time! I received a free sample of the Seventh Generation Skin Serum from Lucky and Seventh Generation to review. After a week of testing, I've finally decided to share my thoughts on this #AllNaturalStyleSecrets product.

The Seventh Generation brand has been around for a while and you've probably seen their products at places like Walgreens and Target. The brand is known for their sustainable products for the home so I was happy to see a beauty product from this world caring brand.

The Seventh Generation Skin Serum is basically an oil facial moisturizer. Yes, I said OIL but don't be scared, this product is actually better than most moisturizers for your skin. Surprisingly, when you apply oils on a regular basis, most people notice less oily skin. The reason is that many products out there over-strip the moisture and that causes our skin to produce more oil to make up for all the natural oils removed. Also, the serum is created from pure, plant based ingredients and it's free of harsh preservatives.

I received the hydrating sample with jojoba oil and I like the very subtle scent. It comes in five other types of serums created for soothing, clearing, firming, revitalizing, and protecting. The variety is perfect to match one for your skin type. After a week of using this product I do notice that my skin is more moist versus oily.

The serum should be applied on damp skin so in my case, by the time I go to apply moisturizer on my face it's already dry so my process to apply the serum is:
  • Apply one pump of the serum in one hand palm.
  • Wet my clean hand.
  • Mix the moist hand with the serum on my other hand.
  • Pat it all over my face and neck.
  • Let dry and apply makeup as usual!

You can buy this serum at Walgreens for $14.99. To learn more about Seventh Generation's All-natural Skin Serums go to SeventhGeneration.com/boosts

I received a free sample of this product from Lucky and Seventh Generation for use in connection with this blog.

Tangerine Fabrics: Madeline Weinrib at ABC Carpet & Home

Tangerine is color of the month so instead of going with the regular home decor post I thought I should share my new online discovery at ABC Carpet & Home, Madeline Weinrib's fabric collection. Handmade in India placing the carved teakwood block with Azo-free dyes one motif at a time on the natural woven cotton. My favorite is the Stella pattern (Number 5) but here are the links to my top 5 on the site that also come in more colors.  1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4 :: 5

These brown boots are made for walkin'!!!

My shoes must be comfortable, fashionable, and durable. If I need to decide between a brown or black shoe I would definitely go for the brown. I like to be comfortable 24/7 so when you do see me wearing heels don't bother asking if they are comfortable because they sure are. ;)

The weather in NYC is nothing like the usual hot August. It's been cool and breezy as if Fall is getting closer, so we are all here wondering if the heat will come back and hoping it does.

While the weather decides what to do, I've been browsing the web for some cute brown boots. I am not sure how durable or comfortable they are, but I do know that they are cute and fashionable. Enjoy my boots wish list and listen to the boots song below. Cheers!

MeRmaID Inspired!

I've been inspired by mermaids and turns out that there is a lot in fashion and beauty that was probably inspired by mermaids too. From the duo chrome nail polish and eye-shadows to bikinis with mermaid inspired patterns.

I might even dress as a mermaid for Halloween. Don't panic - I will cover up more than the girl below although I must say her mermaid top and bottom are pretty awesome to wear by the pool. Enjoy and have a lovely weekend!

Here is a very cool photo of two girls dressed as mermaids by the pool. I found the photograph in the best photos of the week posted by Time LighBox

Carolina Hidalgo—Zuma Press Aug. 10, 2013. Charlotte Wyzykowski, 9, (C) and her sister, Stella, 7, of Dunwoody, Georgia, sit poolside at Hogan's Beach in Tampa, Fla. as their cousin, Jake Talbert, 10, practices holding his breath underwater.

the ring...

We woman are always looking out for that ring. Most people go for the classic diamond and others go for unique bands and gems. When looking for a non-classic ring, make sure it is unique, beautiful and would not make you miss that rock most engagement and wedding rings have. As you know, there is always that classic one, that in the end, we also want.

I am sharing a few, from affordables to the "empty your savings account" options.

I'd love to hear from you. Did/would you go for a unique or the classic ring? Was your ring a surprise or did you get to choose it? Cheers!

Tangerine nails...with Orange Crush by Joe Fresh

Meet "Orange Crush." I was waiting to share this precious nail polish for when I featured tangerine as a monthly color and I am super glad it's here!

I used Essie Feed me as a base coat but just because I ran out of my magic nail potion Quimica Alemana (I truly advise this product to anyone who wants to grow long beautiful nails.) For the tangerine color I used Orange Crush from Joe Fresh. I got it on sale many months ago but you can find similar colors here, here, and here

If you can find a Joe Fresh store near you, please visit their beauty section. The nail polish is small (cute) size and the brush is tiny and makes it super easy for me to apply perfect coats. This is the only color I own from them but would definitely buy other colors in the future. BTW, I just looked at their website and see a few nice colors that couldn't hurt my collection. ;)

The one thing I must say is that this color is a little bit sheer and I had to apply 3 coats but in the end it looks perfect. Love and cheers!

I'm a ballet dancer!!!...a ballerina.

I have been anxiously waiting for my ballet shoes and leotard and finally got a chance to pick them up at the post office. The best part is that I also attended the absolute beginner class at the Ailey Extension. I thought ballet would be tough and that my feet would hurt today but they are perfectly fine.

Ballet is such a graceful dance! :)

I never had the chance to learn ballet as a little girl so when I realized that I could take classes at the Ailey Extension about a month ago, I didn't hesitate to register for my first class, order shoes and a cute leotard from Amazon. Cheers to ballet!

From Haiti, for Haiti

I've always been a fan of the TOMS brand not just because they help the world be a better place but because they do so in a creative way.

By commissioning 30 Haitian artists for this limited edition collection, they help create local jobs and provide the world a view of Haitian culture; creative, colorful, and vibrant.

My favorite four are shown below but view the full women's collection here.

Welcome August!...Color, Music and a Fashionable post!!! ♪♫

♪Tell 'em that it’s my birthday, tell 'em that it's my birthday when I party like that!♪

The year is flyyyying, it's already August, and I didn't even realize it until this morning so today, I have - something different than what I had originally planned - music and tangerine fashion post.

Here's why:
  • August is my birthday month and there is a new AWESOME birthday song that I want to share!
  • Need to introduce a monthly color.
  • A fashion post is already due in this space.
I'll be turning 27 at the end of this month. Although I like to party, I don't really like to go dancing on my birthday or when the day gets closer I decide that I don't feel like partying, maybe a dinner or something relaxing to enjoy my day is much better. I would love to hear your suggestions for this year so tell he how you like to celebrate your birthday in a comment.

Moving on to Tangerine, the color of the month that some might call orange but I want to call it tangerine because it feels sexy-er or at least less rough than ooorange. It's not tangerine tango like Pantone's 2012 color of the year, it's simply tangerine.

Enjoy these tasty tangerine fashion items and don't forget to listen to the Birthday song at the bottom of this post.

Studs  \  Dress  \  Heels  \  Top  \  Short  \  Sandal

I'd love to hear how you party on your birthday so please post your birthday celebration ideas in a comment. Love & cheers!
