Goodbye 2013 and Happy New Year!

What a faaaabulous yearrr! 2013 was great from starting the blog (yes, Cheers! Cristalia will be 1 year in a few weeks) to making new friends, attending design and bloggers conferences, guest blogging at MyFriendBettySays.com, traveling to Hawaii, San Francisco, visiting new places in my gorgeous Dominican Republic (stay tuned for this post), working with great brands, redesigning the site and much more!

In 2014, the plan is to keep growing Cheers! Cristalia focusing more on fashion and home decor posts and to continue to work with great brands.

I love these chunky necklaces, they are perfect with a simple top or dress. Making you go from blah! to wow! in a second. One of my favorite stores in the world, +J.Crew, carries them at not very affordable prices but I am always on the lookout for their sales and of course, the +J.Crew Factory store.

Christmas Traditions

I usually set up the tree, lights and Christmas decor during early November because it's my favorite time of the year but by the time Santa Claus comes, I'm ready to start packing and organizing my apartment to regular mode.

Yesterday, I asked throughout my social media if you removed holiday decorations after Christmas or after the new year and most of you (if not all) said after Three Kings Day (Three Wise Man Day) on January 6th. It was good being reminded of this Spanish and Latin American tradition but even me being latina, and having grown up in DR, I must say that I am confused and that maybe we should stick to one tradition and give all gifts on Three Kings Day and not on Christmas Day or vice versa.

I'd love to hear more about the traditions you follow at home during the holidays. Please share them in a comment.

I'll try to figure this out before we are ready to start growing the family and passing on traditions but for now, I'll stick to starting the new year with everything back to normal and begin tidying up the home and 2014 goals list.

A dear friend told me she'd been looking for boots that go over the knee but couldn't find "the one." I mentioned that I could find her a couple options and also post them on the blog. So here they are, a few casual and dressy options that I hope she likes or at least guide her to find the perfect pair.

My favorites? 2 & 5. Both pairs are from +ALDO and even though I searched in many places online, I must say, they have the most stylish selection of boots.

Perfect Holiday Nails #2

Remember this photo from my instagram post this week? Well, today I am revealing what I used.



Chocolates? Yeah, I just used them as props but they were delicious. Here's what I did use: Essie's "Master Plan", Sally Hansen's "Celeb City"- from the Hard as Nails Extreme Wear line. I couldn't leave the glitter polish so I added "Spark-tacular! " from the Sephora by OPI collection.

Perfect Holiday Nails Tutorial!

Here is a perfect holiday nails tutorial using Color Club's Dark N' Stormy & Apollo Star nail polish. I also used a calligraphy pen with a 2mm ornament nib to create perfect dots.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. The pine trees, the lights, sipping a delicious cup of gabiao (hot chocolate with ginger), family gatherings and gifts are all part of the joy. I used to hate holiday themed sweaters because they seemed old fashioned but for the past few years I can say they are really getting my attention...in a good way. These 6 sweaters are nice enough that I would actually wear. My favorite one is number 2 by Alice and Olivia but $264 is way above my budget for a holiday sweater so I'll just stay with number 2 by Forever 21 for $24.80 and it also comes in grey and white.

Could I have chosen a better color for December? White could be a summery color but it also reminds me of snow, the perfect recently fallen snow that is.

White :: December's Color of the Month

Welcome to December! White is 2013's last color of the month. This color is often associated with innocence, perfection, the good, honesty, cleanliness, the beginning, the new, neutrality, lightness, and exactitude. That's how it's defined in Wikipedia and I how I wish to end 2013 and begin the new year, surrounded by peace, good, and with a clear list of goals to achieve in 2014.
