app review: fitness time!

Yes! I've been extremely lazy for the past winter months and it's now time to get back on track. I'll be using the Nike+ Training app with the sensored sneakers that I got last August as a birthday gift from my husband. At first, I was really excited and I immediately followed the program and loved it for one month. Then came Fall and Winter and I stopped exercising...again (this happens every year).

When I started training with the app, I was really into the program for many reasons:
1. It really works.
2. I was going on vacation in three weeks
3. I enjoy exercising because it makes me feel great.
5. Affordable fitness on the go
4. Who doesn’t love to look great? ;)

My goal here is to follow the 4 weeks program and share my experience at the end. At the same time  I'll be passively forcing myself to follow through.

If you want to join me and train along, here’s what you'll need:
  • iPhone or Android device.
  • Nike+ Training app (Free).
  • Nike Sneakers with sensor.
    • A very affordable option is to get the Nike+ Training Club app that does not require sensored sneakers.
Select a Program to workout 3, 4 or 5 days per week for four weeks.

When I did this back in September, I started with the advanced program (5 days) just because I was already training with other programs at home and running a few times per week.

Tomorrow, I will start with the intermediate program (4 days per week) and at the end I will share my achievements.

I really hope you can start getting fit with me but if not, come cheer me along the way.

Note: If you are starting to train with this or any other fitness program make sure you track your progress by writing down your weight and dimensions (bust, waist & hips ) when you start and every two weeks.

vacation backpack!

Hello there! I'm going on vacation in a few months and I have already started to plan what to pack. I'm debating about the perfect bag to carry around all day. I will be exploring an exotic island with beaches, mountains and volcanoes. While I search for this perfect bag, I've realized that I haven't used a backpack in years. A backpack would be perfect for my trip. Here are some options that will hopefully inspire you while I decide which one to get. They're all my faves!

Which is your top pick? Do you have an awesome suggestions? Post is in a comment below.

Cheerie Cheers & Happy Monday!

white scraps pillow

Today's post is a tutorial on something I made for my new Ikea Kivik Sofa, a pillow. It's made out of fabric scraps that I've been collecting from samples I get through connections in the garment district. ;)

Be aware that I've learned to sew on my own through online classes and tutorials. So, this won't be perfect but it's truly made with love.

To begin, decide what size you want your pillow to be and pick 4 or 8 pretty fabrics. When I originally started this project I was going to buy the pillow stuffing but then found a perfect size pillow I had at home. So, feel free to use an old pillow.

  • Wash, dry and iron the fabric.
  • Cut 8 pieces of fabric the same size - front and back. (My pieces were perfect squares so I didn't have to do this step.)

Begin connecting the pillow by sewing the 4 pieces on each side.
  • Pin the two top pieces on the back/wrong side of the fabric where they need to be sewn.
  • Repeat the above for the bottom pieces and then again for the other side of the pillow.
  • Using a sewing machine, sew where you placed the pins.
  • Now, pin and sew the top and bottom of each side.
  • To connect the front and back of the pillow, pin again and sew the two pieces on three sides. Make sure you're sewing them on the reversed side of the fabric.

  • Iron and stuff the fabric with your pillow.

  • Fold the open side edges in. Pin and sew by hand.

Finally, I used fabric glue to attach a piece of ruffled fabric in the center of one side.

Cheers!

my panera card...

On Friday, as I walked out of the subway station, I decided to go grab a cinnamon crunch bagel from Panera Bread.

The lovely lady at the register asked for myPanera card and I hand it over. To my surprise, she said that I could order a free expresso drink or smoothie until... I don't remember what date. So I said: I'd love to get a latte!

I got the free myPanera card a few months ago, and didn't expect to get more than points but I've already received free pastry (last month) and an expresso drink.

I don't know about you, but this is the most I have received from points or rewards cards besides Sephora samples, of course.

What is your favorite rewards card? Post it in a comment below.

Happy Monday!

fears & cheers!

I confess. I started blogging before I even had my first follower. I was a little skeptical about how I would actually manage my time or that I would run out of ideas. I've realized that with each post more ideas come to mind and then everything is just fine...

Take a look at my posts so far:
1. Welcome to cheers!
2. Mix, match, print, pattern!
3. Laundry chic
4. Vintage lighting type
5. Colab: Prabal Gurung for Target

Collab: Prabal Gurung for Target

A few weeks ago I mentioned Prabal's collaboration with Target in my Mix, Match, Print, Pattern! post but, I just had to come back and feature my favorite pieces from this girly-girl collection inspired by LOVE. Enjoy!

vintage lighting type

If you love type, lights, or vintage decor, come take a look at Vintage Marquee Lights. The company was created by a couple who got inspired by the lights of Broadway & Vegas. The shapes are designed out of old rustic metal which gives it the vintage feel.

As they suggest, these typographic pieces are great decor for any place: "... restaurants, bars, interior decor, retail displays, and even weddings!"

I'd love to see that ampersand on a foyer. Which piece(s) would you love to get???
