Here are some beautiful accessories in December's color of the month. The best part? They're all under $100! So, (YES!) I want them all!!!

Purse $99 :: Hat $58 :: Ring $21.75 ::  Studs $26 :: Cuff $26 ::  Headband $25 ::  Earrings $98  :: Elephant Bracelet $39.50

If you are going to make me choose one single thing I must go for the Panama hat. There is something about hats that I love... I promise I'll tell when I figure that out.

White Home Decor

Throw $29.99 - Nightstand $69.99 - Mirror $229 - Toaster $320 - Dinnerware Set $96 - Ceramic Vases $10-$89 - Ceramic Side Table $129 - Floor Lamp $199 - Tri-Votive Candle Holder $8

Could I have chosen a better color for December? White could be a summery color but it also reminds me of snow, the perfect recently fallen snow that is.

White walls are always right in every home but white decor gives a little touch of elegance, peace, and comfort. I picked a few white items to adorn your home and could not have left out the cozy knitted throw. Perfect to wrap yourself up on the couch in the cold weather with a cup of hot cocoa and your favorite TV program. Cheers!

White :: December's Color of the Month

Welcome to December! White is 2013's last color of the month. This color is often associated with innocence, perfection, the good, honesty, cleanliness, the beginning, the new, neutrality, lightness, and exactitude. That's how it's defined in Wikipedia and I how I wish to end 2013 and begin the new year, surrounded by peace, good, and with a clear list of goals to achieve in 2014.

For now, I'll start with my usual color board on Pinterest. Follow the White Board for daily white inspiration in December.

white scraps pillow

Today's post is a tutorial on something I made for my new Ikea Kivik Sofa, a pillow. It's made out of fabric scraps that I've been collecting from samples I get through connections in the garment district. ;)

Be aware that I've learned to sew on my own through online classes and tutorials. So, this won't be perfect but it's truly made with love.

To begin, decide what size you want your pillow to be and pick 4 or 8 pretty fabrics. When I originally started this project I was going to buy the pillow stuffing but then found a perfect size pillow I had at home. So, feel free to use an old pillow.

  • Wash, dry and iron the fabric.
  • Cut 8 pieces of fabric the same size - front and back. (My pieces were perfect squares so I didn't have to do this step.)

Begin connecting the pillow by sewing the 4 pieces on each side.
  • Pin the two top pieces on the back/wrong side of the fabric where they need to be sewn.
  • Repeat the above for the bottom pieces and then again for the other side of the pillow.
  • Using a sewing machine, sew where you placed the pins.
  • Now, pin and sew the top and bottom of each side.
  • To connect the front and back of the pillow, pin again and sew the two pieces on three sides. Make sure you're sewing them on the reversed side of the fabric.

  • Iron and stuff the fabric with your pillow.

  • Fold the open side edges in. Pin and sew by hand.

Finally, I used fabric glue to attach a piece of ruffled fabric in the center of one side.

Cheers!
