Beauty Products I Use & Love: Foundation

I am one of those girls that stays true to her every day beauty products. If I believe it works, I would buy it, use it until it's gone and buy it again and again.

This has been the case with my everyday foundation. I've used Loreal's True Match super-blendable makeup in N4 for many years. It's been my go to foundation ever since I remember buying foundation.

A few weeks ago I decided to find a new higher end brand (to change it up a bit) and stopped by +Sephora. I ended up buying the +Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation in Warm Natural and absolutely love that it makes my skin look super soft and even.

One pump of this product is supposed to be enough for one application but I find that 2 pumps gives me better coverage. With a few layers of this product on my face, my skin looks very soft and natural.

Needless to say, I still loove my True Match foundation and will continue to have both products in my beauty bag. Saving the more expensive one for special occassions. ;)

Do you use any of these foundations? I would love to know what you use so, share your favorite foundation in the comments.

Love & cheers! Cristalia

Stylish Kleenex Now Part Of Your Home Decor

Today's post is about something I love to have at home, the office and my purse. Not only does this product come in handy every time I sneeze (at least 3 times a day) but the container comes in many stylish patterns to suite everyone's style.

To celebrate Kleenex’s 90th anniversary, they’re bringing you another innovative first: The Kleenex® Style Studio. It’s a fun, inspiring way to discover more of the Kleenex® Brand designs and products you love. And maybe even a few that’ll take you by surprise.

Whether you’re decorating at home or adding a pop of color to your clutch, Kleenex® has you covered.

At home, I keep a box of Kleenex in the bedroom. It's a must have where I do my makeup because I use it to clean makeup brushes and to wipe away excess makeup. Did you know Kleenex started out as a facial tissue for removing makeup? I even use it to apply makeup when the blush brush is nowhere to be found.

I usually go for the girly pinks & purple boxes. The husband doesn't complain so I keep going for what I like, simple flower patterns in my favorite colors. ;)

I also keep a box of Kleenex in the workstation while on the computer. It also comes in handy when I paint my nails. I keep the nail polish by the computer because I get to paint and let them dry without messing up while I type away.

My purse is the one place that never runs out of Kleenex. In the cold weather it saves my runny nose, in the heat I use it to pat dry the oily face. When I catch a cold or during allergy season, there is no way I leave without the little pouch of Kleenex in my purse.

Follow these steps to test your fashion sense for a chance to win!

        1. Visit the Kleenex style finder landing page and click on “sweeps” tab in the
top right corner of the page.

        2. Then click “Play to Enter”.

What's your favorite Kleenex style? I personally love the Blooms line which I picked for the bedroom. It comes in purple, red, green and orange. Tell me your favorite in a comment. Cheers!

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Kleenex but all opinions are my own.

Nails: Pink & Gold Hearts for Valentine's Day!

It's Valentine's Day this week so start spreading the love to make the world a better place. Here are some tips to follow every day:
♥ Hug someone
♥ Make a phone call
♥ Say I love you
♥ Say it in spanish TE QUIERO, or TE AMO
♥ Smile for no reason
♥ Think about the good things in life
♥ Be thankful
♥ Be kind
♥ Enjoy nature
♥ Take time for yourself
♥ Draw hearts
♥ Do things that make you happy, like paint your nails ;)

Use your favorite color as a base. I am using Essie's Lady Like. Pick a different nail color like Good As Gold and draw hearts. I start drawing a letter V and then fill in the heart shape. Remember, they don't have to be perfect, in fact, my favorites are the more oganically shaped hearts.

V Hearts!

Year of the Horse

Estee Lauder Powder :: Butter Nail Fertilizer :: Chantecaille Wild Horse Palette :: Longchamp shoulder :: Silk Pattern Top :: Horse Necklace :: Horse & Roses Print :: Horse Pin Posts

Did you know that the Chinese new year, starting on January 31st, is the year of the horse? I figured it out a few weeks ago when I received a package from a paper company with a very unappealing horse. That's when I had to do a little research of products that brands are creating for us with the horse in mind. What do you think? I personally love the +Anthropologie print with sketched horse and roses, perfect to hang in the girls room or lounging area.

Perfect Holiday Nails #2

Remember this photo from my instagram post this week? Well, today I am revealing what I used.

Chocolates? Yeah, I just used them as props but they were delicious. Here's what I did use: Essie's "Master Plan", Sally Hansen's "Celeb City"- from the Hard as Nails Extreme Wear line. I couldn't leave the glitter polish so I added "Spark-tacular! " from the Sephora by OPI collection.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Beauty for a Good Cause

We all use beauty products to either take care of ourselves or to enhance our appearance. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month so I selected a few products that women use on a regular basis that besides making us feel (or look) better will also support a good cause. Most of them are limited edition which also makes them great gifts for the approaching holiday season.

Beauty And The Beast: New Hair Style

A week ago I was feeling stressed. I stressed because I had a thousand things on my to-do list before I traveled. I stressed because I wanted to feel prepared for my trip and I wasn't. I cried because even thought my hair needed a serious trim, I wanted it to be long, to stay as it was because it made me feel as myself. Sexy. Cool. Confident. It was part of my personality and I was happy because it was the longest it's been in years.

As I got up from the client chair at the hair salon I couldn't believe how short my hair was - I didn't feel like me. I was lost but told myself to be strong so I paid the bill and didn't look back in the mirror. I walked home with tears flowing down my face (good thing it was dark outside) and when I arrived, I complained to the husband and continued to cry. I made my way to the bathroom to clear my face and when I took a second look in the mirror I cried harder because my hair was much shorter than I thought it was.

The following day I realized that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I started to feel terrible because my hair isn't as long as I wished it was but there are people out there who have lost it all because of cancer treatment. So I decided to get over my issue and try to embrace my new hair style.

My new hair cut
Pamper yourself every day and do things you enjoy. Love yourself. Give thanks for everything. Enjoy life as it is with the perfect and the not-so-perfect things.

September is Hot!

Hi there! I've been sneaking September's color of the month in most of my latest posts. Can you guess?... No idea? Remember my red nails (here) and in the plaid shirts (here).

Now, let's have the RED talk. People who wear the color is thought to be sexy whether they are wearing a red dress, lipstick, nails, etc... It's a bold color for home decor (red walls) and most of all, it's romantic in nature (red roses.)

I decided to create a RED board in Pinterest and I just have to say that it's beautiful! Click HERE to view all pins and make sure to follow me on Pinterest.com/CheersCristalia for more RED! ;)

Quimica Alemana & The Nail Clipper

For years, since I was a little girl - a pretty tiny little girl (Hah!) - I would bite my nails. I know it's nothing to be proud of, but I did. I can't count the times I committed to stop doing it. My commitment lasted for a couple months and then my nails would break and I would give up on letting them grow. Everything changed a few years ago when one of my sisters introduced me to what I call the magic nail enamel, Quimica Alemana.

When I started using the product, I would feel a little uncomfortable sensation in my weakest nails but I soon realized that the product really worked and it was making my nails grow strong. That's when I finally stop biting my nails because I loved how nice they looked.

This is where the title of my post comes in: I can now use a nail clipper! I was happy to use it today when one of my nails broke and I wasn't mad to trim all of them because I just know that in a week or so they will be a bit longer.

Take a look at my mani using a red and neutral tone polish. In my left hand I decided to do the dots in the index finger versus the ring finger. They look so darn cute! Happy Monday! ;)

Beauty time with Seventh Generation Skin Serum!

It's beauty time! I received a free sample of the Seventh Generation Skin Serum from Lucky and Seventh Generation to review. After a week of testing, I've finally decided to share my thoughts on this #AllNaturalStyleSecrets product.

The Seventh Generation brand has been around for a while and you've probably seen their products at places like Walgreens and Target. The brand is known for their sustainable products for the home so I was happy to see a beauty product from this world caring brand.

The Seventh Generation Skin Serum is basically an oil facial moisturizer. Yes, I said OIL but don't be scared, this product is actually better than most moisturizers for your skin. Surprisingly, when you apply oils on a regular basis, most people notice less oily skin. The reason is that many products out there over-strip the moisture and that causes our skin to produce more oil to make up for all the natural oils removed. Also, the serum is created from pure, plant based ingredients and it's free of harsh preservatives.

I received the hydrating sample with jojoba oil and I like the very subtle scent. It comes in five other types of serums created for soothing, clearing, firming, revitalizing, and protecting. The variety is perfect to match one for your skin type. After a week of using this product I do notice that my skin is more moist versus oily.

The serum should be applied on damp skin so in my case, by the time I go to apply moisturizer on my face it's already dry so my process to apply the serum is:
  • Apply one pump of the serum in one hand palm.
  • Wet my clean hand.
  • Mix the moist hand with the serum on my other hand.
  • Pat it all over my face and neck.
  • Let dry and apply makeup as usual!

You can buy this serum at Walgreens for $14.99. To learn more about Seventh Generation's All-natural Skin Serums go to SeventhGeneration.com/boosts

I received a free sample of this product from Lucky and Seventh Generation for use in connection with this blog.

MeRmaID Inspired!

I've been inspired by mermaids and turns out that there is a lot in fashion and beauty that was probably inspired by mermaids too. From the duo chrome nail polish and eye-shadows to bikinis with mermaid inspired patterns.

I might even dress as a mermaid for Halloween. Don't panic - I will cover up more than the girl below although I must say her mermaid top and bottom are pretty awesome to wear by the pool. Enjoy and have a lovely weekend!

Here is a very cool photo of two girls dressed as mermaids by the pool. I found the photograph in the best photos of the week posted by Time LighBox

Carolina Hidalgo—Zuma Press Aug. 10, 2013. Charlotte Wyzykowski, 9, (C) and her sister, Stella, 7, of Dunwoody, Georgia, sit poolside at Hogan's Beach in Tampa, Fla. as their cousin, Jake Talbert, 10, practices holding his breath underwater.

Tangerine nails...with Orange Crush by Joe Fresh

Meet "Orange Crush." I was waiting to share this precious nail polish for when I featured tangerine as a monthly color and I am super glad it's here!

I used Essie Feed me as a base coat but just because I ran out of my magic nail potion Quimica Alemana (I truly advise this product to anyone who wants to grow long beautiful nails.) For the tangerine color I used Orange Crush from Joe Fresh. I got it on sale many months ago but you can find similar colors here, here, and here

If you can find a Joe Fresh store near you, please visit their beauty section. The nail polish is small (cute) size and the brush is tiny and makes it super easy for me to apply perfect coats. This is the only color I own from them but would definitely buy other colors in the future. BTW, I just looked at their website and see a few nice colors that couldn't hurt my collection. ;)

The one thing I must say is that this color is a little bit sheer and I had to apply 3 coats but in the end it looks perfect. Love and cheers!

What's in my June BirchBox?

Happy Holidays!!! (Joke) It just feels like Christmas around here. I just got my June +Birchbox full of awesome goodies that I already started playing with.

I'll start with my favorite two items (top right image) and make my way down.
1. A neon color nail polish from Color Club's Wanderlust collection in collaboration with BirchBox. I saw a girl wearing a similar color on her toes a couple days ago and loved it. Now I get to have my own nails shine with this neon laquer.

2. Exfoliate foaming cleanser from Suki. Just a tiny bit of this product is enough. I took a small amount to try it on my hand but had to exfoliate my full left arm. Can't wait to try it in the shower. By the way, it smells like lemon which for me is delish!

3. Itty bitty files from +Tweezerman. Perfect to carry around in the purse, and to leave at the work desk for a nail emergency.

4. Postcards inspired by +Birchbox locations. That includes a Cheers! card all the way from London. ;)

5. Glossy Kiss lipstick from Mirenesse. This lipstick can give you a matte or glossy finish plus it can also be used as a blush.

6. Couture La La sample from Juicy Couture. I tried this product at Sephora a few months ago and it's not my taste but it does smell soft and familiar. I probably have some friends that own it! :)

Sweet Pineapple

Did you get a chance to read my "Best of Oahu, HI" post? I picked one favorite thing for each category and failed to mention our visit to the Dole plantation where I had a super sweet (and delicious) pineapple ice cream.

The Dole plantation was one of the places I was really looking forward to visit while in Hawaii. Even though we didn't do the maze (the largest maze in the world) because it was really hot that day, I really enjoyed watching their demonstration on how to cut a pineapple and serve it right on the shell.

Excited by the summer weather that we already have in NYC, I picked some pineapple inspired items that will keep you looking gorgeous and smelling delicious at the beach, or in the city!

chalkboard + nails...

The British nail company, Ciate, came up with the brilliant idea of turning our nails into chalkboard. The Chalkboard kit includes a base coat in black, a clear matte finish and 4 colorful chalk pens to help us release our inner child and doodle all over the "black board" nails.

The kit also includes an inspirational look book and it's now available at +Sephora.

Cool right? Definitely adding to my wish list. Happy Monday!

Lavender beauty: Perfect for Spring!

Happy Monday! If you look at my everyday makeup bag you'll only find a foundation, blush, mascara, brow pencil, and a three color eyeshadow palette with black, brown and cream. I generally keep it basic but when trying to add some color to my beauty routine I love going for the purple palette for the eyes. Purple tones highlight my light brown eyes specially when they're in the darker color range. It's nice to now and then get out of the routine and add something different.

For today's post I picked three lavender beauty items that are perfect for the Spring. These add a sweet touch of color without being too much. I've seen this Essie nail polish at the drugstore but I'm never brave enough to try it so, I noticed it on my sister a few days ago and loved it - see image below.

My sister Dhariana's pretty lavender nails!
